Hypnobirthing is a way of creating a positive birth experience for you and your baby. Through hypnobirthing, we become informed about birth and the choices that we can make to design the birth that we want.

Fear of the unknown is replaced with empowerment from everything that we do know. By learning evidence-based tools and techniques to apply to both labor and birth, we can go into birth with confidence.

The ‘Hypno’ part of hypnobirthing does not mean that you will be hypnotized during birth, it simply refers to the relaxation techniques that we master during a hypnobirthing course during pregnancy.

You can begin hypnobirthing any time, but the ideal time to start is anytime after 20 weeks. The more time you have to practice the better.

There are four units of approximately 3 hours each:

  • Creating & maintaining a positive mindset
  • Our toolkit for birth
  • Preparation & choices for empowered birthing
  • Birth - bringing it all together.

There is a mix of theory and practical, giving you a chance to get hands on and put the tools into action.

We have several beautiful birth videos showing couples who have done the course using the tools.

It’s never too late to take the course. People have effectively used the techniques after learning at 38/39 weeks

Other childbirth methods tend to teach you how to ‘cope with and manage pain’, whereas hypnobubs™ is based on the premise that a healthy woman, with an uncomplicated healthy pregnancy and healthy baby, should be able to birth in a more comfortable manner and without unnecessary interventions. We focus on the joy of birth and positively anticipate our birthing day.

If you don't have a partner or your partner is unable to attend you may like to consider bringing along a friend or family member who might be able to support you in labour.

If your partner is the person who is going to be supporting you in labour, it is highly recommended that they do the course with you. A big component of the course is showing them how they can be a really great support, keeping you feeling safe, loved and comfortable throughout labour and birth.

No. A natural birth definitely has short- and long-term benefits for you and your baby, which we discuss in the course. However, the information and tools we give you will help you to have a positive birth experience, no matter how it unfolds. There's even a change of circumstances / positive caesarean Hypnobubs course for people having a planned caesarean birth as well.
